Source of life

June 25, 2008

We live on an island, surrounded by water. We’ve got rivers, streams, reservoirs, water supply aplenty. In fact we even had too much last year when large areas of the country were devastated by floods. Many people lost so much in those difficult times, but I still cannot help but think how lucky we all are (them included) when I look at the devastation which is caused by the elements in other parts of the world (but that’s a whole different topic)

So back to water, the stuff of life, vital to our existence, the content of over 50% of our body and essential for our human survival. I’ve just been reading an interesting article online that demonstrates just how important water is to us

A group of elderly residents in a care home have been part of a “water club”, encouraging them to drink 8 to 10 glasses of water a day. The results are somewhat surprising: not only are they more alert & better in their health, but one lady has even found that she is now able to go for a walk every day when previously this was a struggle for her physically.

So, the magical cure for all our ills? Perhaps not, but it’s certainly worth giving it a try.

Now which way’s the water cooler …
