Those special things – part 2

December 22, 2010

Ok, so way way back at the beginning of the year I decided that I was going to compile a list of things to look forward too.  So away I went & planned something exciting for every month of the year.  Well 2010 is almost over now, so I thought it was time to write about the year & some of those exciting things – just for historical recording purposes, oh and to remind myself of some of those good things.

Here’s the final list:

First ever visit to the ballet to see “Swan Lake” – beautiful.  I want to go again.
Trip to Bakewell – and to the original Bakewell Pudding Shop.  Sadly I’m not really a fan of Bakewells tho 😦

Visit to the opera to see “A midsummer night’s dream” – wasnt keen on the “singing” it was distinctly un-musical in my opinion but the scenery & orchestra were amazing!
Chocolate tasting evening – that was very yummy & converted me to the merits & delights of dark chocolate

Amazing holiday in beautiful Cape Verde – simply breathtaking!  What more can I say?

Went to Oxford for the day with my Dad & had a good time seeing the sights & some of his old student haunts.
Tried out a new Chinese restaurant to celebrate my Mum’s birthday – yum again!

Another visit to the theatre to see “When Harry Met Sally”.  Good production of the film on stage
Caught up with an old school friend who was in the UK for a couple of weeks from Oz.  We enjoyed some good evenings out 🙂

Visited the British Library in London for the first time.  Impressive looking at some of the old books there, including the Magna Carta.

A work trip to Los Angeles included a little time off to visit the impressive Walt Disney Concert Hall & the Cathedral of Our Lady of Angels.  Both were breathtaking & inspiring in their own right.
Fun evening out with friends at a Tapas restaurant to celebrate summer – some very yummy food & a great time was had by all!
Celebrated the 100th Birthday of my Great Uncle – an amazing achievement & such a lovely man 🙂

Holiday in Croatia, on the beautiful Istrian Peninsula.

Visit to Gloucester – fantastic weekend with friends
Another trip to the theatre, this time to see the musical Chess – great production with fantastic music & costumes.

Visited Chatsworth House in Derbyshire to see the Christmas Decorations & enjoyed afternoon tea there – very swish!
Celebrated my Uncle’s 80th birthday.  It’s been a year for big birthdays in our family.

Snow-struck Britain – provided the opportunity to take some beautiful snowy photos
Celebrated my 40th birthday (yikes!) not in a big flashy way, but quietly with family. 🙂

Well this quick run back down memory lane for 2010 has been great.  But now it’s on to creating those memories for 2011 …
