Tubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff (Year in photos 2011)

January 18, 2011

Do these words remind you of a song?  A song about a yellow bear perhaps? One who loves eating honey? Who lives in wood?  Who has lots of friends? Yes, you guessed it, I’m talking about Winnie the Pooh. And why? Well because today is Winnie the Pooh Day, a day when we can celebrate, commemorate & reminisce about our favourite bear. 🙂

I’m sure we all have childhood memories of The House at Pooh Corner, 100 Acre Wood, playing Pooh sticks – or perhaps wanting to play Pooh sticks.  For many of us, Pooh was a very happy addition to our childhood.  And why do we celebrate today?  Well because today, the 18th January in 1882, was the birth day of A A Milne, the author behind our favourite bear.

So whether Pooh was your favourite, or perhaps Eeyore, or Piglet, or even wise old Ol the owl, take a few minutes today to remember them all.  And in homage to that little yellow fella, here are some of his widely known quotes, just to get you into the spirit of things 😉

“Some people care too much, I think it’s called love.”

“A bear, however hard he tries, grows tubby without exercise.”

“If you live to be 100, I hope I live to be 100 minus 1 day, so I never have to live without you.”

“You can’t stay in your corner of the forest waiting for others to come to you.
You have to go to them sometimes.”

“When late morning rolls around and you’re feeling a bit out of sorts, don’t worry,
you’re probably just a little eleven o’clockish.”

“If the person you are talking to doesn’t appear to be listening, be patient.
It may simply be that he has a small piece of fluff in his ear.”

Wise words for just a tubby old bear! 🙂
