40 years ago today was an historic and memorable day in the United Kingdom.  Things would change dramatically, never to be the same again.  And why was that?  Well 40 years ago today the UK went decimal and introduced a whole new currency upon us all.  The shillings were thrown out of the window and replaced with brand new pounds and pennies.  

In memory of this eventful day in British history, today’s photo shows some of those shiny new coins and notes.
