Year in Photos (15-March-11)

March 15, 2011

Today I had to leave work early & carry on my work at home.  Why?  Because I’ve hurt my back & I just wasnt able to sit at my desk any longer.  So my photo this evening is some of the things that I’ve been turning to, to try to relieve the pain.

Year in Photos (14-March-11)

March 14, 2011

I didnt deliberately choose another flower photo today, but when I stumbled upon this crocus trying to make its way through the ground, I just had to take a photo of it.  I guess it reminds me of the struggle that we all have from time to time as we try to make our own mark on the world, to stand out from the crowd & to look different.  Perhaps this should be our example to stick with it.  The result is worth the effort.

Year in Photos (13-March-11)

March 13, 2011

Continuing yesterday’s floral theme, today’s photo is of some carnations that I was given recently.  They are another reminder of the wonder of creation & the beauty of nature all around us.

I love the way the edge of each flowers is a different colour & how each of the flowers is unique in its own way.

Year in Photos (12-March-11)

March 12, 2011

A stroll down to my local shops this morning found me stumbling across these lovely tulips outside the florists.  I love tulips & these ones were just crying out to be photographed.

Lent

March 11, 2011

So in keeping with previous year, in 2011 I have again decided to give up chocolate for Lent.  I had hoped to start something new for Lent this year but time ran out on me before I came up with a good idea.  So instead I’m resorting to the going without something thing again & so chocolate it is.

Here’s a bar of Green&Blacks that I’m looking forward to opening after Easter.  Forty days isn’t so long really, is it?  🙂

Pancakes

March 9, 2011

Ok, so for those of you who are on the ball you’ll realise that today isn’t Pancake Day.  Actually it was yesterday but I’m celebrating today.   Why? Well you see it’s simple really – my Dad is THE pancake expert.  Not just the pancake expert in our family but a pancake expert in the wider scheme of things too.  When he worked he used to be the official pancake maker on Shrove Tuesdays in his office, and spent a good part of the day mixing up batter, cooking up pancakes & tossing them in the air – complete in proper chef’s hat!

So obviously with an expert in the family it’s only right that I (along with the rest of my family) bow to his superior knowledge and skill and let him do the pancake cooking, don’t you think? 😉

So pancakes all round this evening it is then – yum! 🙂

Just lemon & sugar on mine please .. 😉

March 8, 2011

This evening was the first time in a long while that I have left the office in actual daylight.  How great is that. Those long daylight evenings are finally looming on the not too distant horizon 🙂

Census forms

March 7, 2011

Well how exciting.  This evening I got home to find an A4 envelope had been delivered.  This isn’t just any old envelope, it’s the envelope which contains the census forms for the 2011 Census.  Many people might not be excited by this, but as someone who has been researching their own family history for a number of years, and who has spent many hours pouring over old census returns looking for snippets about my ancestors and insights into their lives, well for me it’s exciting.

I’m looking forward to filling in the forms in my own fair hand.  I won’t be completing them online because I know how great it is to actually see your ancestors own handwriting.  I just hope that there will be some ancestors who will be interested enough in finding out about me 100 years from now!

Year in Photos (6-Mar-11)

March 6, 2011

I took today’s photo in my bedroom, as the Saturday morning sunshine was streaming in through the window.  Beautiful.  Warmth & brightness, lightening up the room and reminding me that Spring might be just around that corner 🙂
